At Grange Vets, we are proudly independent. This means our veterinary surgeons are trusted and supported to use their own professional judgement when recommending care for each individual patient.
We do not believe in a “one size fits all” approach to veterinary medicine. Every animal, owner and clinical situation is different. Our vets are encouraged to consider the full picture when making recommendations, including the patient’s welfare, the owner’s circumstances, current evidence and research, available treatment options, clinical experience, and any practical or financial factors that may affect decision-making.
This approach is often described as contextualised care. It means working with owners to find the most appropriate plan for their pet, rather than simply offering the same pathway in every case. Sometimes this may involve advanced diagnostics or referral. In other cases, a more practical, staged or supportive approach may be the most appropriate option.
Our clinical team are free to discuss the benefits, limitations, risks and likely outcomes of different options, so that owners can make informed decisions about their pet’s care. We believe this openness leads to better communication, stronger trust, and care plans that are realistic, ethical and centred around the animal’s best interests. As an independent practice, we are not restricted by corporate treatment pathways, sales targets or centrally imposed protocols. We are not tied to any specific referral centres or crematoria. Our vets are supported to do what they believe is clinically appropriate, while working within professional standards, evidence-based medicine and the individual needs of the patient and client.
At Grange Vets, clinical freedom means giving our team the ability to think, advise and act in the best interests of the animals and families we care for.
